Involvement in the Olympic Games
The Aix-Marseille Provence Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIAMP), operator of the Anse de la Reserve marina since 2018, is involved at the economic level, in the preparation of the 2024 Olympic Games, but also in local sports on a regular basis.
In 2007, the CCIAMP was entrusted with the evaluation of the economic impact of the Rugby World Cup by the Provence Alpes Regional Olympic and Sports Committee and the PACA Regional Youth and Sports Directorate. This was followed by the creation of the Rugby Club Enterprise, which focused on the economy emerging from Rugby. In 2015, the Chamber of Commerce launched a study on the sports sector in the Bouches du Rhône, which will subsequently be extended to the entire Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region in 2021. These studies have demonstrated the importance of sports in the regional economy and thus support the CCI’s desire to become increasingly involved in this sector. It is this ambition that led to the project of designating Marseille Provence as the European Capital of Sport in 2017.
Olympic Games 2024
The kick-off event for the mobilization of the economic world around the 2024 Olympic Games took place on November 18 at the Palais de la Bourse by the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the MP Culture association, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Sport Heritage Fund and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Regional Olympic and Sports Committee.
With the aim of integrating the local economic fabric into the organization of “the major event of the decade” (Jean-Luc Chauvin, President of the CCIAMP), the Chamber of Commerce intends to position itself as an informational interface between the sporting and economic worlds. Thus, through its Metropolitan Business Actplatform, it will inform Marseille’s and regional companies about the market opportunities generated by the Games. In addition, the creation of the AMP 24 Club, bringing together the official partners of the 2024 Olympic Games, is scheduled for September and will enable local companies to benefit from the economic repercussions of this worldwide scale event.
The Aix-Marseille Provence Chamber of Commerce’s commitment to the 2024 Olympic Gamesis reflected in its daily management of the Anse de La Reserve marina. Indeed, since it took the role of the operator the marina in 2018, many investments in renovations, upgrading of infrastructures have been undertaken to best prepare this exceptional place to host high-level athletes, but also all actors related to the Olympic nautical sport.
